ITINERARY: Past

Past Present Future

Cleveland Game Devs Playtest Night, June 16, 2026.

I got a version of "Escape From the Psych Ward" text adventure working on a laptop with speech synthesis, but not speech recognition (you have to type in your commands on the keyboard, when the Android phone version used speech recognition). This was available for people to play that evening.

Manic Pixie Market, Saturday, April 4, 2026.

I had a few pieces at the Lakewood Art League table that afternoon.

Global Game Jam, January 30- February 1, 2026.

I worked with the year's theme "Mask" by starting a text adventure called "Three Meals in Two Places." The object of the game is to get through the day by eating breakfast, lunch and dinner and going to bed. The mask is a complication when at a restaurant it is an option to go to, they only serve females, and only men can pay. So you have to sometimes have a mask on. The diversifiers I chose were an Undefined Language (I invented a 20 word language but I think I need to add 2 words to make it 22), Out of Sight (the game can be played by both blind and sighted players), Take a Walk (The game is designed to be played safely walking outdoors), and Let's Jam (Gameplay generates music based on player actions).

Ingenuity Festival, September 26-28, 2025.

I had drawings and watercolors, a card deck of wise sayings, the opposite of which are also true, note cards with reproductions of some of my art, and business card with reproductions of some of my art on the backs of the cards at the Lakewood Art League table.

I Stand for Fest, August 23 & 24, 2025 at SPACES, September 12, 2025 at the Brownhoist, and at the Ingenuity Festival, September 26-28, 2025.

I put in a copy of a sketchbook page and an Olanzapine bottle in a "Preserving Culture Jar". This is a scan of a copy of the stechbook page (I already sold the original page from out of the sketchbook).

Riverside Cemetery Arts and Music Festival, Sunday, July 27, 2025.

I had a few paintings and notecards at the Lakewood Art League table.

Global Game Jam, January, 2025.

The theme that year was "Bubble". The diversifiers I chose were "In a Liminal Space" (I chose a grocery store after it closed), "Strange as Folk" (folk horror theme), all text ryhmes, and just 2 buttons (or player choices) to play. The game I started has the player locked overnight in a closed grocery store with an alcoholic woman and a caffeine freak man, as a vampire. The player has to make it through the night. I called the game "Dwindling Grocery Store and a Little More."

Global Game Jam, January 26-28, 2024.

The theme that year was "Make Me Laugh." I made a one room text adventure, "Escape from the Psych Ward." You lose the game by being take in, and win if you leave the hospital.

I used the diversifiers "Based on a True Story" (the game is based on one of the developer's real experience), and "Art of the Tank" (that there's a reward for losing the game).

I was in the Rocky River Fall Arts Festival, Saturday, September 13, 2014. A photo of my booth:
